Dear friends,

What follows is the text I wrote for the catalogue coming out for the exhibition “space-tacular”, in Dubai. The exhibition will open in May 2008. More information about the exhibition is coming soon. I will be performing: “THE ARTIST SUPERHERO-LIMITED EDITION GOLD“. This text is an intro and a mood maker for the entire background of the performance…

“I don’t know where the best place to start would be… I guess one day I woke up and found myself in the middle of an emotional roller coaster. “And now you say you’re sorry… You cried the whole night through”. Mina was the first I heard singing that song. After her came others that were good and others that were bad… and then there came along somebody who Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends,

Berlin is full of gallery openings tonight and I should be running like crazy to check them all out but I feel kind of tired and still have to go through my sports routine… My sleep rhythm has been damaged again last week so I spent one entire day without sleep and thought that if I went to bed around 1am I would wake up around 10am but I was mistaken… I will not even say when I woke up, but it was late. So, today, among other happenings in Berlin, like a cool party in Tape tonight, starting midnight (BE THERE!)… I also went to catch a glimpse of Madonna’s new album… Now, hold your Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends,

I am now finalizing the last details for my new performance which will premiere May 10th in Dubai. More details about the venue and time are coming soon. The title of the performance is: “THE ARTIST SUPERHERO-LIMITED EDITION GOLD“… I will mutate myself into a hard working, gold making, blood sweating machine… The anti-hero inside will strike again! Stay tuned for further updates.

Love,

Ivan

Dear friends,

I don’t understand why some people can be so uptight and selfish and see only their own goals in front of them… they also blur out the fact that almost always they need other people to achieve those goals. You need to know that you have to show more respect and devotion, not to say commitment, to those who help you on the way. I truly believe that nothing is disposable! Whatever you toss away as a piece of junk, will come back to you like a boomerang and it will not be pleseant.

So be respectful to all people who have ever been there for you and never forget their support because there is justice and let me tell you honey, believe it or not, it comes and Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends,

I haven’t written in a while and it seems as if I had nothing to say… nothing new to tell or interesting to talk about… well… today I am sick and tired of writing about art. It bores me and I do wish to breathe some different fresh air… inspiration wise and interest wise… so I guess I’ll put in a little bit of this and that to spice up the reading pleasure…

First of all I am disgusted by the Fact that Berlusconi will be “boss” again! Italy, you make me sick with your total self destructiveness! How can the rest of the world let a crook guide a country to ruin?! He owns half of Italy people… how can that in any way be a good sign. All your alarm bells should Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends,

I went to the new Galerie Nord/Kunstverein Tiergarten exhibition “Sag mir wer du bist” – translated into: “tell me who you are”, which opened yesterday, April 9th. The interesting thing about this exhibition is the fact that it has been concieved in only an extremely short period of time… Why is that?!?!? O.K. let’s start from the beginning…

The previous exhibition in Galerie Nord was entitled: “ZOG – surrend – subversive Praxis im oeffentlichem Raum“. The exhibition was done by a Danish group called “surrend”. They used a very direct way to talk about or maybe even criticize religious and cultural phenomenons as well as social and group behaviour… so one of the photographic media used in the exhibition was a sort of “triptycon” portraying, among other things, a very direct comment or Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends,

Another looong weekend is over and I am forced to retake my life into my own hands and restart my editing, managing, sports routine and so on. The Biennale experience is fading away and I have calmed down after all the bumpy rides and night events Berlin had to offer these days. I have seen a performance in the Kunst Werke two nights ago… it was part of the “Biennale by night program”… I will not even comment because I don’t want to start sounding like an uptight bitch. I swear there are things I really like a lot and I do not criticize everything but a person is allowed to have an opinion and be picky, so I am just being honest.

My friend, Emanuela, saw “Today she is not alone” and will organize a screening of the movie in Rome, later this year. Those are great news. As soon as the date and place are fixed, I will post the details of the premiere of the movie. The official premiere will be in Dubai in May. Where in Dubai is still not clear though. Right after the premiere I will start applying for several short film festivals across the globe so the movie might hit your city too. I will keep you posted.

The sound editing has not been completed yet so the movie is officially still not ready.

Kiss,

Ivan

Dear friends,

I have been to the fifth Berlin Biennale yesterday… I started my walk through the venue at 2 pm and ended the pilgrimage at 9pm. So what can I say… I started the march full with hope and eager to see some new, interesting, not shocking but fun, art! I had no big expectations. I just wanted to let it all come to me and have a great time, seeing new art peaces and meeting friends along the way. I thought it would be a wonderful day… but instead it turned out to be a joke… and a bad joke it was indeed… It was so bad that I thought there would be a man jumping out from behind some corner shouting at us: “candid camera”!

I don’t know where to start… I first got my accreditation in the Kunst Werke and walked through them and it wasn’t all that bad… From the entire Biennale I would only save Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends, here I am again. This time I have another angry post for the world…

I have been working on a project to help a curator friend of mine bring a couple of artists to Berlin from a different country. The entire event will take place in June and will last just a week. The Goethe Institut is involved, as well as some important sponsors. The sponsors will pay for accommodation, catalogue print, travel expenses and so on… plus they offer the gallery that is willing to participate in the project to send their artists to the other country next year in order to continue with the exchange…

Now… we all know how crowded Berlin is with galleries and we know that the most of them are on the verge of heavy duty bankruptcy and this not only because they can’t sell a thing… and still they have the nerve to fake their way into wannabe important whoever people. Most of them have the nerve to tell you to pass by in a week and you do so just to hear them say that they are already booked! Hello motherfuckers, you could Read the rest of this entry »

Happy birthday Alo:)

April 1, 2008

Happy birthday Alessandro:) This is just another year passing and nothing more than that!  Besides, we stay at our best, uncorruptable and fabulous, despite the shit that surrounds us! Have a great party and don’t think about applications too much! At least not today. Kiss and love.
