Dear friends… or dear diary… cause that’s what this all seems to be going to…

I wonder if what I am writing here isn’t just a self enactment process… who cares anyway right?! The matter of the fact is that I am in Berlin right now. Sam is here… the curator who invited me to Dubai twice already. Now he is curating a show in Berlin. The opening is tonight at 7pm in Emerson Gallery Berlin in Gartenstarsse n.1 10119 Berlin. The title is: FUSION. Anyway… I had a nice long speech with Sam and just one simple question was enough to break Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends,

I am now finalizing the last details for my new performance which will premiere May 10th in Dubai. More details about the venue and time are coming soon. The title of the performance is: “THE ARTIST SUPERHERO-LIMITED EDITION GOLD“… I will mutate myself into a hard working, gold making, blood sweating machine… The anti-hero inside will strike again! Stay tuned for further updates.

Love,

Ivan

Dear friends,

I went to the new Galerie Nord/Kunstverein Tiergarten exhibition “Sag mir wer du bist” – translated into: “tell me who you are”, which opened yesterday, April 9th. The interesting thing about this exhibition is the fact that it has been concieved in only an extremely short period of time… Why is that?!?!? O.K. let’s start from the beginning…

The previous exhibition in Galerie Nord was entitled: “ZOG – surrend – subversive Praxis im oeffentlichem Raum“. The exhibition was done by a Danish group called “surrend”. They used a very direct way to talk about or maybe even criticize religious and cultural phenomenons as well as social and group behaviour… so one of the photographic media used in the exhibition was a sort of “triptycon” portraying, among other things, a very direct comment or Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends,

I have been to the fifth Berlin Biennale yesterday… I started my walk through the venue at 2 pm and ended the pilgrimage at 9pm. So what can I say… I started the march full with hope and eager to see some new, interesting, not shocking but fun, art! I had no big expectations. I just wanted to let it all come to me and have a great time, seeing new art peaces and meeting friends along the way. I thought it would be a wonderful day… but instead it turned out to be a joke… and a bad joke it was indeed… It was so bad that I thought there would be a man jumping out from behind some corner shouting at us: “candid camera”!

I don’t know where to start… I first got my accreditation in the Kunst Werke and walked through them and it wasn’t all that bad… From the entire Biennale I would only save Read the rest of this entry »

Dear friends, here I am again. This time I have another angry post for the world…

I have been working on a project to help a curator friend of mine bring a couple of artists to Berlin from a different country. The entire event will take place in June and will last just a week. The Goethe Institut is involved, as well as some important sponsors. The sponsors will pay for accommodation, catalogue print, travel expenses and so on… plus they offer the gallery that is willing to participate in the project to send their artists to the other country next year in order to continue with the exchange…

Now… we all know how crowded Berlin is with galleries and we know that the most of them are on the verge of heavy duty bankruptcy and this not only because they can’t sell a thing… and still they have the nerve to fake their way into wannabe important whoever people. Most of them have the nerve to tell you to pass by in a week and you do so just to hear them say that they are already booked! Hello motherfuckers, you could Read the rest of this entry »
