Dear friends…
this summer sucks…
breaking up if so painfull it feels like dieing! The pain is not fading!
August is a “good-bye” kind of month and it always brings out the nostalgy that will follow up till mid -end october, leaving space to a cold winter…

these days I am not on holidays anywhere… all my friends stood me up. Nobody gives a fuck or is too busy surviving. So now the time has come for me to do my shit regardless of the others and stop saying always yes! SO here I am saying NO to useless phone calls, silly requests, miserable date offers and boring conversations.

I will have my holidays and they will be spent in Berlin, at home, with the phone off the hook and no e-mails and work. No blood suckers around me any more. Just lazy sublime nothing. A soft summer breeze, a video camera, a photo camera, inspiration and me.

Here is a first boost of inspiration… minimal… trashy and real! after the jump you can see the other four parts of the video as well. enjoy.

Ivan Civic – fail to lose

November 25, 2008

This is one of the rarer performances I did in Berlin… It is another sort of weird video game for the artist… but this time the goal is not to become the ultimate artist superhero, just like in the other game: “Want it, get it, fake it!”… in this game the question: “Do I want to become an artist superhero anyway?” arises, but no actual answer is given. The aim of the game is to fail to lose, meaning: if you fail to lose, you win the game but by winning you actually lose the game, because the aim is to lose… a paradox…

Enjoy :)

another performance out of the “virtual video game” world of the arts… Performed in Dubai… it wasn’t easy to get all those people to engage in any sort of physical interaction… and as for the hugs… they were difficult too, considering that each hug was over a couple minutes long.

For more info, click here.

Enjoy :)

This performance was the one that made me win the “premio internazionale della performance – premio per l’Italia” in Trento, back in September 2006. I repeated it in New York, A year later, in Artist’s Space. For more info about this piece, click here.

Enjoy :)

And here the fresh new documentation from my last Dubai performance… a comic figure… as if pressed to the wall just like drawn heros are pressed to their two dimensional worlds and rectangle shape boxes…

For more info about this performance, click here

ENJOY :)

The performance… finally the documentation as well! Enjoy.

Dear friends,

these past few days have been kind of strange… the world seems to be getting tired of certain stars and their behavior… let’s start with a dirty and futile note: The tabloids say Madonna co-wrote her brother’s book about her… (possible indeed) and her rep. Rosenberg answered that if she had co-written the book, it would have been written in a more “eloquent” manner. She also stated that Madonna doesn’t need publicity and that her upcoming tour tickets are selling great. Hmmm… don’t know what is cheaper… Read the rest of this entry »

Lady GaGa live

July 21, 2008

Dear friends, click here to see Lady GaGa perform live on stage… she is an energy bomb. Don’t you just love her?! Seeing her live you will understand why I consider her a damn good performer… and I mean it in the European way… not the American one. In America everybody can be a performer… This chick studied art and knows her shit. The frozen pose at the end of her performance is adorable. GaGa, I wanna work with you.

Love,

Ivan

Dear friends… or dear diary… cause that’s what this all seems to be going to…

I wonder if what I am writing here isn’t just a self enactment process… who cares anyway right?! The matter of the fact is that I am in Berlin right now. Sam is here… the curator who invited me to Dubai twice already. Now he is curating a show in Berlin. The opening is tonight at 7pm in Emerson Gallery Berlin in Gartenstarsse n.1 10119 Berlin. The title is: FUSION. Anyway… I had a nice long speech with Sam and just one simple question was enough to break Read the rest of this entry »
